LIGHT FOR THE WORLD granted status of tax privileged organisation in view of charitable donations, 9 June 2009

As one of the first Austrian aid organisations LIGHT FOR THE WORLD has been granted the status of a tax privileged organisation in view of charitable donations by the fiscal authorities (Finanzamt 1/23). Donations to LIGHT FOR THE WORLD are now officially and retroactively as of 1st January 2009 tax deductible. „A big day for our humanitarian work, and quite a relief and privilege for our donors!” This was the first reaction of managing director Rupert Roniger upon receipt of the official notification by the fiscal authorities (Finanzamt 1/23) at the Vienna office of LIGHT FOR THE WORLD. LIGHT FOR THE WORLD reaches 550,000 persons in 2008

The Austrian specialist organisation strikes a balance, adding up the proceeds of 2008. Despite economic and financial turmoil worldwide: total amount of donations up by 4.8 percent. These positive developments facilitate continuous extension of relief projects targeting blind and disabled people in the “Third World” in 2009. „In total we were able to reach 550,000 persons in the Third World with our aid last year“, explains Rupert Roniger, managing director of LIGHT FOR THE WORLD on the occasion of the organisation’s annual press conference in Vienna.
