Our work is supported by many people in Austria. We can only help blind and otherwise disabled people in the countries of the Third World because of the donations we receive, money as well as other forms of donations and personal commitment.

I gladly joined the "Austrian Intitiative Against Blindness". There is hardly any bigger benefaction than giving a person back his eyesight. Innumerous people in the "Third World" still suffer from blindness, caused by poverty and illness. They need our active support. In Ethiopia I saw with my own eyes how blind people are helped by LIGHT FOR THE WORLD. I'll never in my life forget the radiant eyes of the people who after years of darkness had had cataracts removed. That is a further motivation for me to find more supporters for LIGHT FOR THE WORLD. Every little action, every donation can specifically help people who have a disadvantage and brings us nearer to the goal VISION 2020: THE RIGHT TO SIGHT. By the year 2020 it should be possible to ensure that no person goes blind merely because there is a lack of necessary medical care. For the first time this project brings together all charities, UN organisations, governments and individuals to bundle their strengths so that preventable and curable blindness can be conquered.
