LIGHT FOR THE WORLD granted status of tax privileged organisation in view of charitable donations, 9 June 2009 Managing Director Rupert Roniger with the official notification at the Vienna office of LIGHT FOR THE WORLD As one of the first Austrian aid organisations LIGHT FOR THE WORLD has been granted the status of a tax privileged organisation in view of charitable donations by the fiscal authorities (Finanzamt 1/23). Donations to LIGHT FOR THE WORLD are now officially and retroactively as of 1st January 2009 tax deductible. „The motion proposed on 22.5.2009 by the above named party (compliance with the prerequisites of § 4a Z. 3 and 4 EStG) is hereby accepted and it is noted that the prerequisites specified in § 4a Z. 3 and 4 EStG exist and that the applicant body as of 1.1.2009 is part of the circle of privileged recipients of humanitarian, development- and disaster-relief organisations and institutions that collect donations in accordance with § 4a Z. 3 and 4 EStG.” Ophthalmologist Dr. Abu Beyene and his cataract surgery patients. The Austrian aid organisation LIGHT FOR THE WORLD seeks to alleviate the plight of blind, ophthalmically challenged or otherwise disabled people in developing countries. Through the newly granted privileged status in view of charitable donations the organisation hopes to be able to mobilize additional support for its current 115 relief projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Or as Roniger put it, with an appreciative smile on his face: “This public recognition of our humanitarian work reaffirms the trust our donors put in the effective and efficient work of LIGHT FOR THE WORLD. I would like to already thank all those in advance who take this tax privilege as a motive to support our humanitarian work for the first time or to a greater extent!” |
